TINY HUMANS?

I get asked ALL the time: "Do you want kids?"

My overall answer is yes, I would love a couple little rascals running around someday. Is that day in the close future? My overall answer is no, I can barely keep my room clean. It's already hard enough to find a dog sitter, and you're allowed to at least leave a dog for a few hours, being a parent sounds stressful.

When I was younger, I thought being pregnant was the best thing ever. It might have been because I worked at a daycare and had baby fever all of the time, but the feeling didn't last. Once I was in college and started my nursing classes, I quickly realized carrying a baby was not my cup of tea. It looks painful, and you're bloated and uncomfortable, and did I mention it looks painful? Someone at work said, "yeah I mean it does ruin your body..." and I said have you seen my body? I'm not super worried about ruining anything, except maybe my lady bits, it's everything else that comes with a pregnancy I don't want.

Don't get me wrong, pregnancy is a beautiful thing. It is unbelievable what a woman's body can do. Growing a human in another human is amazing and wild. I just personally know I would be miserable.

I truly believe blood does not make a family. I have a mixed family and I love each and every one of them, regardless of our genetics. I could 1000% fall in love with a child I did not birth. Whether that is because I meet someone with a kid(s), or my partner and I adopt or she wants to carry, that tiny human would be so loved.

I would love to foster someday, when I'm slightly more financially stable, and work my way into adopting. There are SO many kids who need families out there. I'm taking a training course to become a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for children, which means I am assigned to a case regarding a child's well being, and it is the first step in the door to the fostering system. Some women feel it is their destiny to have a baby, but I feel like my purpose is better served making sure a kid can feel safe and loved when their life has been turned upside down. Since I am a nurse and know sign language, it also opens the door to helping a child who might have daily medical needs or is Deaf, and I love knowing I could be there for them.
